As in NC, the ANC technology don't want to isolate sounds from background noise, It actually cancel out the disturbing background noise by using the exact anti wave with the help of the dedicated microphone, and the Integrated and dedicated electric circuit inside the headphone.

How is the Active Noise Cancellation Work ?

As we all know there are lot of disturbing background noise around us, The sound is a energy source that can travel from one place to other as a wave. So when we ware a headphone with Active Noise Cancellation, then the dedicated microphone will capture the disturbing background noise wave, and it will send the signals to the Integrated and dedicated electric circuit inside the headphone. So after that, the headphone can make the signals of exact anti wave of the disturbing background noise by the help of the build in IC. After that, those signals will move to the speakers of the headphones, and they will output the exact anti wave to the ear.

Making the exact anti wave of the disturbing background noise is a very difficult task, and it must be generated between millisecond gap . So it is necessary to have a good performing IC inside the headphone.

But without NC, The ANC technology is also not much useful, Because the disturbing background noise can penetrate through the gap of the speaker and the ear. So it is impotent to have NC with ANC to take the exact real effect.

There may be some white noise from your headphone, when you turn on the ANC option. It is actually because of the circuit data transfer. It is somewhat higher in Cheep ANC headphones and Very low on High price Headphones.
